About CAPF AC (LDCE) Exam

The CAPF AC LDCE exam is designed to recruit Assistant Commandants (Group A) in various Central Armed Police Forces—such as BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and CISF—through a departmental promotion mechanism. The exam is exclusively open to serving Sub-Inspectors (GD), Inspectors (GD), and Assistant Commandants (Temporary) of the CAPFs who fulfill the required eligibility criteria, including service length, age, physical fitness, and medical standards.

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) is conducted by the Nodal Agency.

Assistant Commandants are the entry-level officers in the CAPF, leading and managing
personnel in various operational and administrative roles.

They are selected through the competitive Central Armed Police Forces
(Assistant Commandants) Examination conducted by the Union Public Service
Commission (UPSC).

Assistant Commandants serve in different CAPFs, including the
BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

They are responsible for the operational effectiveness of their units, maintaining
discipline, and ensuring the security of their assigned areas.

In the CAPF hierarchy, they are immediately below the Deputy Commandant rank.

As Grade A gazetted officers, they have significant authority and responsibilities
in the CAPF.

Eligibility Criteria

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the CAPF AC 2026 to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant. The candidate must first fulfil the CAPF AC exam eligibility before applying for the CAPF exam 2026. The Eligibility include the candidate’s educational qualification, age limit, and physical standards. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any government-recognized board.

Objective Type Exam (Paper 1, 2 & 3)
Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence: 100Q – 100 Marks
This will include General Awareness, General Intelligence, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Current Events, Matters of every day observation and experience. This paper would be objective type (Multiple choice question & bilingual i.e. English and Hindi).
Paper II: Professional Knowledge (Departmental): 100 Q – 100 Marks
Objective Type Exam (Paper 2): Professional Skills related to your force.
Paper III: Descriptive Type Exam: 4Q – 100 Marks
Essay: 40 Marks
Precis: 30 Marks
Comprehension: 30 Marks.
